Our Prayers Go Out…

I remember Columbine…I remember Virginia Tech…I remember Sandy Hook. I remember the others, too numerous to name. My heart is heavy, as is the heart of every parent, every educator and everyone who has been too close to a tragic incident such as the one that occurred last Wednesday in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Today, I ask for your prayers as Saint Dominic Academy continues to pray for those in Florida who are mourning the loss of 17 young lives due to senseless violence.  Together, let us as for God’s grace and turn our heavy hearts to His wisdom for comfort.

And so we pray for our children and for all children…

May the light of God surround you…

May the love of God enfold you…

May the power of God protect you…

May God place His hands upon you…

May the presence of God watch over you…

Wherever you are, God is.

Amen

  1. Prayers will only go so far. The number of these type of shootings far outpace those of other westernized Countries. We need comprehensive gun safety legislation and realistic mental health reform.

  2. I can remember having the luxury of taking my children to school every day and my only worry was “did i mix up their lunches?” Then came September 11th and the school called to say my son had seen the planes hit the tower through the bathroom window of the school.
Life was never the same, innocence of children was lost. I pray every day that God will guide my children when they are parents. Because the innocence was lost.

  3. So beautiful. My aunt always said, “If it is too big, give it to God.” I finally understand what she meant by this.

  4. So sad and horrific. We must be strong. For ourselves and those around us that are not so strong… God is with us, all around us!! We pray for the families and friends suffering from their losses. We pray for our world and everyone’s lives to be a better, to be safe and happy, for today and tomorrow to be better than yesterday.
    God Bless!
